On Saturday we did a house removal from Bromborough on the Wirral to Wavertree in Liverpool. Two of us in the large van: a bed, a wardrobe, a display cabinet, a bench, an armchair and one very heavy cast iron fireplace.

Loading up in Bromborough
No stairs at the pickup, which helped, because the fireplace was the kind of item you only want to lift once. The bigger pieces went into moving blankets and were strapped to the van wall so nothing could shift on the drive.

The cast iron fireplace
This was the job of the day. Cast iron is dead weight with no good handholds, so it was wrapped in blankets, cling-filmed to keep the blanket tight and held upright with a ratchet strap against the wall rails. It is a two-person lift every time, which is exactly why this was a 2 men job.

Unloading in Wavertree
At the Wavertree end the tail lift brought the heavier items down to street level, then we carried everything inside and up one flight of stairs to the rooms the customer wanted. Furniture placed where they were asked for, blankets off, and done.

If your move has awkward or heavy pieces like this, a two-person crew is worth it. We cover the Wirral and Wavertree regularly, and you can see similar jobs like our Chester to Heswall house removal or the rest of our recent removals.
