Old Swan falls within the L13 postcode, roughly 5 to 6 miles from our Huyton depot, about a 15-minute drive along the A57, with the M62 easily reached via Broadgreen Road. Regular bus routes 7, 8, 9 and 10/10A/10B run straight into the city centre, and Broad Green and Wavertree Technology Park stations sit just on the area's doorstep, so we're familiar with every approach into the district.

Old Swan's tramway, opened in 1861, was one of the very first street tramways in Britain, and the area later gave rise to two well-known Liverpool names: the original Sayers bakery, founded here in 1912, and the very first Home Bargains store, which opened in 1976. The Victorian Old Swan library, built in 1913, still stands as a local landmark, and more recently Liverpool Shopping Park's second phase, completed in 2020, has brought new retail to the area.
With a population of around 15,600 at the last census, Old Swan is made up largely of densely packed terraced streets, so we plan around narrow roads and on-street parking. We regularly help residents downsize from these terraces or clear a property before sale. Where a house clearance uncovers an old upright piano nobody wants, we can remove and dispose of it properly; Liverpool City Council's own bulky waste collection doesn't take pianos, so it's a job we're often called in for. If you're moving into or out of Big Yellow Self Storage on the Old Swan site, we're happy to help with that leg of the move too.
